Patterns or finished items?

At least 95% of orders held only digital patterns. Orders that held finished items were under 5% of the total, too few to show on their own. A digital pattern is a PDF the buyer downloads; a finished item is a physical piece the maker ships.

What a crochet pattern sells for

The typical pattern sold for $4.96, the median price of every paid pattern download charged in US dollars. The middle half of those sales were priced between $1.26 and $6.20; the mean was $4.47. Prices are the price at purchase, before any discount code. Free patterns were under 5% of pattern downloads; they are left out of the price figures.

For comparison, on September 3, 2026 live shops listed patterns at a median of $3.99, so what sold in this period ran above the listed median.

A price distribution is not shown this quarter: every way of splitting sales into price bands left a band that was mostly one shop. The median and quartiles above are shown because they are read from the whole set of sales.

What sells

Amigurumi & Toys patterns were 67% of patterns sold. The rest (accessories, baby & kids, blankets & afghans, not classified, seasonal & holiday) are shown together, because on their own each was too small or too concentrated in one shop to publish. A pattern's category is the one its maker filed it under on the Crochetify marketplace or, when it is unfiled, the one its name says: a bunny hat is an accessory, a pumpkin amigurumi is amigurumi.

Where buyers are

64% of orders came from buyers in the United States, 9% of orders came from buyers in the United Kingdom, and 5% of orders came from buyers in Canada. Buyers in 32 other countries placed the remaining 13%. 55% of orders came from a buyer in a different country from the shop. 16% of orders in the period have no buyer country on record (digital orders placed before Crochetify took an address on every order); the shares here are of the rest.

Method and privacy

This edition covers July 1 to September 2, 2026 (UTC), a quarter still in progress. It was generated on September 3, 2026 by a script in the Crochetify codebase from the platform's order records; every number on this page is read from that output, which you can download as JSON. The next edition reruns the same script on the next quarter.

  • Sample: 883 paid orders holding 1,529 items, placed with 13 Crochetify shops. Orders that were canceled, never paid, or refunded in full are left out, as are orders from the platform's discontinued marketplace checkout.
  • Prices and order values are in US dollars, from orders charged in US dollars (orders were charged in 2 currencies). Orders in other currencies count toward every share but not toward a price figure; no exchange rate is applied. A pattern's price is its price at purchase, before discount codes. Order value is the order total less tax: goods plus shipping.
  • A pattern's category is the marketplace category its maker filed it under or, when unfiled, the category its name matches by the same keyword rules the marketplace uses. A name that matches nothing is counted as not classified.
  • A buyer's country is the country of the order's address. Orders with no address on record are counted in the sample but not in country shares.
  • Disclosure rules: a figure is published only when it is based on at least 20 orders (or items, or listings) from at least 3 shops, and no single shop supplied more than 75% of them. Groups that fail are folded into one "other" row, which must pass the same rules; when it cannot, the shown shares are floors rounded down to a multiple of five and the other row is a ceiling. Price bands merge into a neighbour until every band passes. Months and weekdays are shown whole or not at all.
  • Only whole-percentage shares and medians, quartiles, and means are published, plus orders by month, where every month passed the rules on its own. No other count of a subset of the sample appears on this page, and shares may not sum to 100 because of rounding.
  • Limits: Crochetify's makers are not a sample of all crochet sellers. The platform is small, and within these rules a few shops account for much of what sold, so the figures describe Crochetify shops in this period, not the crochet market. Categories read from names are approximate.
